Using Uber as transport service in Mexico
Uber Ride Mexico
Taking an Uber ride in Mexico

The Uber app works the same as other countries and is very popular in Mexico, automatically finds your location to provide door-to-door service. That means you stay safe and comfortable wherever you are until your driver arrives. When you’re matched with a driver, you’ll see their name, license plate number, photo, and rating — so you know who’s picking you up ahead of time. Once your driver has picked you up, share your ETA with your friends and family so they can follow your route and know when to expect you. And even after the trip, you’re able to contact your driver in case you left something behind, they will bring your belongings safely and free of charge to your location.

There are different options available for your ride: uberX (Affordable, everyday rides), uberXL (Affordable SUVs for groups up to 6), UberSUV (Luxury SUVs for groups up to 6), UberBLACK (High-end rides with professional drivers), UberSELECT (High-end rides at affordable prices), uberWAV (Affordable rides in wheelchair-access vehicles).
Uber POOL in Mexico
Uber Pool Mexico
Uber POOL

Uber POOL is one of the best options to meet new people, specially in tourist areas where you can find people from around the world. Uber POOL matches you with riders heading in the same direction, so you can share the ride and cost. This service is also cheaper than the usual door-to-door rides with Uber however you have a maximum 2 seats per request, you must be ready before your driver arrives to make sure no one in your car is kept waiting and expect additional pickups and/or dropoffs along your trip.

If you’re traveling with luggage, the room available will depend on the space in the car and number of riders in this case taking an uberX could be the best option.

If you need more than 2 seats, you can use uberX or uberXL for larger groups; uberPOOL only allows 2 per request.

Pickup and dropoff order is determined by where your destination falls along the route, not the order of who was picked up first.

Though some pickups and dropoffs may be slightly out of the way, check the time shown in the app; especially if you go to the airport.
Should I take an Uber or a Taxi in Mexico?
Uber or taxi in Mexico
Uber Vs Taxi

There are many options to move around in Mexico, the public transport is licensed and regulated by the Mexican government. The hotel staff or your travel agency can manage the transport during your trip specially for large groups, also you can either physically wave at a taxi at the street corner (validate the ID badge, confirm the price and never enter a taxi with someone else in the passenger seat - If you don’t see a badge or a radio, do not get into that vehicle) or call a local taxi service (safest) to reserve a car at least half an hour prior to the pickup time.

Drivers in tourist cities are used to transport foreign passengers and could speak english so you can ask for local recommendations and further valuable information for your visit such as local customs, current events, best restaurants, entertainment and more.

You will find different options available in Mexico besides Uber, here are some of them: Cabify, Easy Taxi, Taxify, DiDi, Yaxi, Citydrive, avant, BlaBlaCar, local limousines, local minivans, and many more.. if you want to include your company's name please contact us.

Important safety tips
How to stay safe while riding with Uber in Mexico

Door-to-door services are very popular in Mexico and are used by thousands of users every day but there are also common things that you as a rider can do to ensure your safety.
  • Plan ahead. Before you request a ride, think about where you’re headed and review the safety features in the app so you know how to use them. You can also schedule your trip in advance.
  • Request your ride inside. Avoid spending unnecessary time outside alone with your phone in your hand. Instead, wait indoors until the app shows your driver has arrived.
  • Get in the right car. Before you get in the car, check that license plate, driver photo, and driver name all match what’s listed in the app. Uber rides can only be requested through the app, so never get in a car with a driver who claims to be with Uber and offers a ride.
  • Be a backseat rider. If you’re riding alone, sit in the backseat. This ensures you can safely exit on either side of the vehicle to avoid moving traffic, and it gives you and your driver some personal space. There could be some locations (e.g. Airports) where the driver may request you to seat in the front seat to avoid problems with the local transport services.
  • Buckle up. Always wear a seatbelt, even when travelling short distances especially children. It's the law in Mexico and a car insurance requirement.
  • Share your trip details with a friend. While en route, tap “Share status” in the app to share your driver’s name, photo, license plate, and location with a friend or family member. They can track your trip and see your ETA without downloading the Uber app.
  • Protect your personal information. There’s no need to share your phone number or other contact information with your driver. If a rider and driver need to contact each other, the Uber app automatically anonymizes both phone numbers to protect everyone’s privacy.
  • Follow your intuition. Trust your instincts and use your best judgement when riding with Uber. And if you ever feel you’re in an emergency situation, call 911 immediately, and feel free to record on video the situation to present charges.
  • Be kind and respectful. As outlined in Uber's community guidelines, respect your driver and his or her car. Uber may charge additional reparation fees if needed (e.g. puke the seats after-party). Remember the driver will rate you as passenger as well.
  • Give feedback on your trip. Uber has a 24/7 strong global support team and will follow up with appropriate action on any reports of conduct that violate the community guidelines.

UBER eats
UBER eats is a food delivery platform that makes getting food from local restaurants as easy as requesting a ride; just select a restaurant, place your order and track your delivery.

Tips aren't included and they aren't expected or required. You can always rate your experience after you order – just like you rate an Uber ride.

For most meals that you order through UBER eats, you’ll be able to add special instructions to let restaurants know about any modifications you may need.

You can order multiple items from the same restaurant, but you cannot order from multiple restaurants in the same order. However, if you do want food from multiple restaurants, once you place your order, you can then order items from a different restaurant while your current order is being prepared and delivered. Please note that each order will include its own delivery fee.

You can cancel your order anytime after submitting the order but BEFORE the restaurant accepts the order. To do so, tap "Cancel Order" in the order tracking screen. If you would like to cancel an order AFTER an order has been accepted by a restaurant, you will need to call Uber support. The support team will then confirm with the restaurant that they have not begun preparing your food and are ok with the cancellation. If the restaurant has started preparing the food, Uber will be unable to issue a full refund for the order.
